Spanish players have made a strong statement on the list of nominees for the 2026 Ballon d'Or, the award for the world's best player, topping the list of most-represented nationalities with six players.

French magazine France Football revealed the list of 30 players nominated for football's most prestigious individual award on Tuesday.
Spain's six nominees are Lamine Yamal, Rodri, Fabián Ruiz, Ferran Torres, Pau Cubarsí, and Marc Cucurella, all part of Spain's squad that won the 2026 World Cup against Argentina.
France came second in terms of number of nominees, with five players: Ousmane Dembélé, Kylian Mbappé, Michael Olise, William Saliba, and Dayot Upamecano. Portugal came third with four players: Bruno Fernandes, Nuno Mendes, João Neves, and Vitinha.
England is represented by three players, Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, and Declan Rice, matching Brazil's total, which includes Gabriel Magalhães, Marquinhos, and Vinícius Júnior.
The list also includes two players from Argentina, Lionel Messi and Lautaro
Martínez, while seven other countries are represented by a single player each: Morocco through Achraf Hakimi, Senegal through Sadio Mané, Norway through Erling Haaland, Colombia through Luis Díaz, Georgia through Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ecuador through Willian Pacho, and Mexico through Julián Quiñones.
The winner is set to be announced during the Ballon d'Or ceremony in London on October 26.
