Juventus have agreed a season-long loan for Newcastle United forward Nick Woltemade, in a deal worth £3.5m with no option to buy. The 24-year-old, who joined Newcastle from Stuttgart for £69m last summer, will travel to Turin for a medical.

Despite his record price tag, Woltemade has started only one of new manager Matthias Jaissle's first three games, though he did come off the bench to assist Yoane Wissa's goal in Saturday's 2-0 win over Tottenham. Juventus turned to Woltemade after their pursuit of alternatives fell through, Jonathan David looks set for a loan move to Atletico Madrid, while talks with Manchester United's Joshua Zirkzee stalled after his proposed switch to Fiorentina collapsed. Juventus reportedly see Woltemade as a better and cheaper fit, and the loan avoids the obligation-to-buy clause United wanted for Zirkzee.
The move comes as Newcastle finalize a deal for Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, worth up to £55m, which is reported to have helped pave the way for Woltemade's exit.
