The impact of the cold and moist air mass associated with the low-pressure system is expected to deepen on Thursday, with a noticeable drop in temperatures to around 7–8°C below the seasonal average for this time of year.
The weather will be cold, cloudy, and rainy across most regions. Rainfall is expected to be heavy at times, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, which may lead to flash floods and rising water levels in valleys and low-lying areas in many regions, including Aqaba and the Dead Sea. During the early morning hours, there is a slight chance of light snow showers over the high southern mountain peaks (Al-Sharah Mountains) for a short period. Winds will be westerly and active, with strong gusts that may exceed 60 km/h. Rainfall intensity is expected to decrease during the late night hours.
In its report, the Meteorological Department warned of the خطر of flash floods and rising water levels in valleys and low-lying areas across many regions, including the city of Aqaba and the Dead Sea. It also warned of thunderstorms, hail, strong winds with powerful gusts, reduced horizontal visibility due to fog and low clouds touching the ground—especially over mountainous areas—and slippery roads in areas experiencing rainfall. The department advised avoiding going into or near the sea in the Gulf of Aqaba.
Temperatures are expected to range as follows:
• East Amman: 10°C / 7°C
• West Amman: 8°C / 5°C
• Northern highlands: 6°C / 3°C
• Sharah highlands: 5°C / 2°C
• Desert areas: 13°C / 8°C
• Plains: 11°C / 7°C
• Northern Jordan Valley: 19°C / 10°C
• Southern Jordan Valley: 22°C / 14°C
• Dead Sea: 21°C / 13°C
• Gulf of Aqaba: 22°C / 13°C
On Friday, temperatures will rise slightly, and the weather will remain cold, partly to mostly cloudy in most regions. Rain is expected at intervals, God willing, in the western parts of the Kingdom and limited areas of the northeastern regions. Winds will be westerly and active, with strong gusts that may exceed 60 km/h, gradually easing by the evening as rainfall decreases.
On Saturday, another slight increase in temperatures is expected. The weather on Saturday and Sunday will be relatively cold in most areas and warm in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, with medium- to high-level clouds. Winds will be moderate southwesterly.
