Google’s Gemini (Nano) AI engine has quickly become one of the most popular AI engines, with users eagerly following its latest releases, whether for 3D models or 4K portrait images. Adobe has now joined this trend by integrating the Gemini 2.5 Flash (Nano) engine into Photoshop.

For the first time, Adobe is adding external AI models to Photoshop. The company isn’t just including Google’s Gemini (Nano) engine, but also the Flux.1 Kontext Pro engine from Black Forest Labs. This addition provides users with more options for generating AI content without leaving Photoshop. Notably, this isn’t the first time Gemini (Nano) has been added to a new application, as Perplexity recently announced that it can be used via its WhatsApp chatbot.
Users can simply select the Gemini (Nano) engine when generating AI images using the app’s Generative Fill feature. Adobe highlights that an added advantage of external model integration is the ability to make direct corrections. AI-generated images often contain minor errors, and now users can use Photoshop tools to make precise adjustments according to their needs.
Deba Subramaniam, Adobe’s Vice President, stated: “What makes this Photoshop integration particularly powerful is how it combines model options with Photoshop’s professional tools, giving you the ability to create content and then immediately refine it with Photoshop-level precision and control.” Essentially, users can unleash their creativity with Gemini (Nano) while making any necessary edits—all within a single application. Adobe’s Firefly image models will remain available on Photoshop, with the company noting that the Generative Fill feature is one of the app’s most popular tools.
Usage Limits for Gemini (Nano) in Photoshop
Adobe provides unlimited access to Gemini (Nano) and Flux.1 Kontext Pro on Photoshop until October 28. After that, standard Creative Cloud, Photography, and Photoshop desktop subscribers will receive 100 lifetime credits per model. Creative Cloud Pro subscribers, meanwhile, will receive 500 credits per day. Currently, Gemini (Nano) usage is limited to the Generative Fill feature.
Privacy and Commercial Use of Gemini (Nano)
According to Adobe’s policy, user content from any of its applications is not used to train AI models, regardless of which model is used. However, Adobe has not clarified whether images generated by Gemini (Nano) can be used commercially. The company emphasizes that “it is the creator’s responsibility to determine whether partner models are suitable for their projects, considering factors such as model focus, training method, and commercial safety.”
