The development comes after an issue emerged with the Shortcuts app following the iOS 26.6 update, which may be the reason behind the development of the new version.
According to a number of iPhone users on Reddit, the iOS 26.6 update caused Shortcuts Automation to stop working.
The feature allows an iPhone to automatically perform a series of actions when a specific condition is met, such as when a user reaches a particular location, opens a certain app, reaches a specific time of day, or when the battery level drops to a predetermined percentage.
Installing iOS 26.6.1 could potentially fix the issue and restore the automation feature to normal operation.
Meanwhile, users running beta versions of iOS 27 continue to test a range of new features expected to arrive on iPhones with the upcoming operating system, most notably AI-powered Siri.

However, one of the most prominent current issues involves Siri's handling of lengthy voice commands. The voice assistant may stop listening before the user has finished speaking, making interactions involving complex or lengthy requests frustrating.
By the time the stable version of iOS 27 is released, AI-powered Siri is expected to be more mature and ready, with significantly broader capabilities than previous versions of Apple's voice assistant.
Apple is expected to release the final version of iOS 27 in mid-September, roughly coinciding with the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, allowing the new devices to reach users running the latest version of the operating system.
This is also expected to include the iPhone Ultra, although Apple's first foldable iPhone could follow a different timeline. Apple may unveil the device in September but delay its market launch until November at the latest.
Such a scenario could be similar to what happened with the iPhone X, which Apple unveiled on September 12, 2017, but did not release to the market until November 3 of the same year.
The delay of the iPhone X was linked to problems involving some of its components. There are concerns that the iPhone Ultra could face similar circumstances, potentially delaying its market release after its official unveiling.
