Symptoms and Prevention of Cardiac Steatosis
Dr. Anastasia Ivanitskaya, a cardiology specialist, explains that in its early stages, cardiac steatosis (fatty heart disease) may present with headaches, reduced physical endurance, high blood pressure, among other symptoms.اضافة اعلان

“Headaches, shortness of breath, decreased tolerance to physical exertion, high blood pressure, and irregular heartbeats—these are all early warning signs,” she says. “As the condition progresses, symptoms can worsen to include swelling of the lower limbs, ascites (fluid buildup in the abdominal cavity), and cardiac arrhythmias, ranging from mild palpitations to rapid or slow heart rates. These changes impair oxygen exchange across the body’s tissues and organs, further deteriorating overall health.”

Cardiac steatosis is a condition caused by the accumulation of fat cells within the heart muscle (myocardium).

“Excessive fat buildup in the heart muscle causes it to enlarge and lose elasticity,” says Dr. Ivanitskaya. “This contributes to arterial hypertension and heart failure. The replacement of cardiac muscle cells by fat disrupts the heart’s electrical conductivity, leading to various rhythm disorders.”

To prevent the development of this condition, Dr. Ivanitskaya recommends:

Regular physical activity

Healthy eating habits

Maintaining an overall healthy lifestyle
