AMMAN — Life coaches are just one of a plethora of wellness professionals who help people trying to live their best lives. But many still have only a hazy understanding at best of what a life coach is and does. اضافة اعلان

Issa Assaf, a professional life coach based in Jordan, recently spoke with Jordan News about what a life coach actually does and how they can help people live their lives fully. “I studied strategic intervention, and what I do is simply said: I enter a person's life and assist him in understanding the base of the problem he is experiencing in order to resolve it.”

“When I started in 2016, the term life coach was new. But now, in 2021, people are looking for a life coach, meaning that their awareness has increased and the concept of a life coach has evolved” to include services for people who not only have problems in their lives, but also “want to grow and take their lives to the next level,” he said.

Assaf helps his clients in two ways: the first way uses the science of achievement, which describes the process required to achieve anything. “The science of achievement is concerned with how a person might achieve his or her goals, whether they are related to business, marriage, health, or any other aspect of life,” he said.

The second method uses the “art of happiness”. In Assaf’s view, happiness is determined more by the state of one's mind than by one's external conditions, circumstances, or events. Happiness can be achieved through the systematic training of heart and mind.

“The art of happiness necessitates a thorough grasp of the human psychology and spirituality, and this field assists people in growing and discovering the meaning of true happiness in their life,” said Assaf. “Many people believe that achievement and happiness are linked, yet they are not.”

According to Assaf, the need for a life coach is determined by a person’s level of consciousness. Less consciously evolved people require a certain amount of pain to motivate them to make a change in their life and seek the help of an expert. However, as a person’s level of consciousness increases, the motivation to evolve will rise spontaneously because that person would be in harmony with the natural rhythm of life, which is constant and never-ending growth, Assaf said.

He added that everything depends on a person’s knowledge, regardless of what community they come from. He added that most clients get the results they want in a few weeks or months, and in some cases, after just one session, if they can identify and eliminate their problem.

Low self-worth is the most common difficulty affecting people's lives, according to the coach. Furthermore, poor self-esteem causes people to be dissatisfied or unsatisfied with themselves, lowering their quality of life.

“I deal with a diverse group of people from all over the world and have realized that humans are similar and that the human soul is one,” he said. “The majority of people's sense of purpose in life stems from a sense of feeling not good enough.”

“Depression is a symptom of the main problem that stems from inside, which is low self-worth.”

Additionally, childhood trauma may play a role in a variety of mental and emotional issues that do not manifest themselves until later in life. Children who have experienced trauma in childhood will find challenges in various areas of their lives long after the trauma occurred, he said.

“The problems we know, such as depression, low self-esteem, and others, all branched off from the trauma we experienced in childhood,” explained Assaf.

He added that all solutions and resources to build a happy life are inside us. “I help people discover themselves and find out what's inside them by transforming pain into power.”

Assaf emphasized the importance of inner peace, which he defined as being psychologically and spiritually at peace. “We have had inner peace since we were born, but we can't feel it because of the layers of falsehood and bad programing that we soaked up growing up from our environment. The goal is to let go of all the lies we have held in the past about ourselves, the world, and the nature of life. Then the only thing that would be left is the truth.”

For Assaf, the most interesting part of being a life coach is that “every day, I get the beautiful privilege of helping people create breakthroughs in their lives and witnessing their magical transformations.”
