7 Hours to Win Your Heart: A sentimental comedy with fragments of pop melodrama

“7 Hours to Win Your Heart” is the directorial debut of
Giampaolo Morelli, previously only known as a fan-favorite actor. He merges his

Giulio Manfredi is an affirmed journalist whose life is seemingly ideal for anyone outside. He has a job that he loves and excels at. Financially he has almost everything a man in his position could desire, and even romantically, he is in a good place, given that he has been together with his girlfriend Giorgia for years and the two are also planning to get married.

Unfortunately, his picture-perfect bubble quickly bursts. Giulio discovers that the love of his life is betraying him with his boss Alfonso. In a rapid turn of events, he loses his girlfriend and his job. He struggles to find a job and begins working at a men’s magazine.

The magazine covers many ranges of topics, from hairstyles to lessons on flirting, dating, and love. Intrigued by the concept of love lessons and fueled by all that has been taken from him, the journalist contacts Valeria to ask about her approach and courses in the art of love, attraction, and dating. He decides to try her technique out in an attempt to help him make sense of what went wrong with Giorgia and what aspects of his beliefs about love and seduction are wrong.
Giulio finds himself at a mental crossroads. Either he questions himself and changes to be able to implement the reconquest strategy done with the help of Valeria to win back Giorgia, or everything remains as it is and he has to forget Giorgia.
A fresh spin on a familiar concept
The movie is a spin on traditional American romantic comedy. The title and plot closely resemble the famous American romantic comedy “How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days.”
Morelli’s fresh character shows viewers a new perspective on romantic comedies. However, the change in roles where the man is the one seeking out assistance, focusing on winning a previous lover instead of appealing to a new one, does not play out in a way that is expected.
Giulio, unlike many male protagonists, is not a womanizer trying to find his person. He is also not the typical average-looking and awkward guy that people would assume struggles with when it comes to romance. Instead, he is considered attractive, and he stands out compared to the men who take the course with him.

While the plot seems implausible at times, the predictable twists and unrealistic situations add a nice touch to the film. The story allows itself to be followed with ease and the main actors have a chemistry that is presented well on screen. The cast of secondary characters was chosen carefully, and it includes notable presences from Neapolitan theaters and cinemas, such as Vincenzo Salemme, Massimiliano Gallo, Antonia Truppo, and Gianni Ferreri, which bought the whole film together.
However, the real driving force of the cast is Serena Rossi, who manages to extract truth even from a character that is more contradictory than complex.
The new director demonstrates courage in playing a role that is considered in contrast with his physical appearance. He presents certain agility on camera and off camera. His editing offers a lot of beginner ingenuity.

Morelli pulls a deus ex machina in the production, which is presented through his character, a seemingly clumsy but good-looking man overwhelmed by his unfortunate circumstances lead us to believe he might have no way out. But his life is turned around rapidly by the deuteragonist, Valeria.
Valeria, one of the most robust characters in the movie, transforms insecure men into capable, self-confident seducers. However, this transformation doesn’t come without resistance, especially from Giulio, which leads to the biggest twist in the movie.
In “7 Hours to Win Your Heart,” the content delivers effectively on the genre. The romantic comedy infuses the sentimental connections between the characters with wit and irony. In addition, it presents the movie in light humor that makes viewers both laugh and enjoy in awe.
