A source close to the actor told Youm7 that his condition is serious, noting that doctors are closely following developments and praying for his speedy recovery.

Sobhi had recently made his first television appearance after a long absence, appearing as a guest on the program “Al-Ashira” hosted by Mohamed Saeed Mahfouz on Extra News channel. During the interview, he spoke candidly about his intellectual and artistic positions, emphasizing the importance of oversight in artistic works, stating: “If there is no supervision, I would say: there must be supervision.”

He also reflected on his long journey in the arts, discussing his achievements, dreams, and the reflections or regrets that come with a career spanning over four decades.

Career Highlights

Mohamed Sobhi was born on March 3, 1948, in Cairo. He is an actor, playwright, and theater director.

In 1968, he began performing small roles in various plays alongside prominent actors such as Salah Mansour, Fouad El-Mohandes, and Hassan Youssef.

In 1980, he co-founded the “Studio 80” theater troupe with his friend Lenin Ramly, marking the emergence of a young, dedicated duo in the theatrical scene.

His television career began in the mid-1970s with the series “Forsat Al-Omr”.

Colleagues in the theater world often describe Sobhi as a military-style leader or dictator, known for his meticulous approach—sometimes seen as excessive. Sobhi believes that actors working with him must demonstrate endurance, respect for schedules, and appreciation for the craft.
