According to an association statement issued on Monday, Al-Nawafleh said the programme had provided important support to Petra’s hotel sector by stimulating domestic tourism and increasing visitor numbers. This helped ease some of the burdens facing hotel establishments amid the challenges confronting the sector, particularly the decline in inbound tourism.
He stressed the need to continue supporting programmes and initiatives that promote domestic tourism, describing it as a supporting tool for the tourism sector. However, he emphasized that a genuine and sustainable recovery for Petra’s hotel industry requires the return of foreign tourism to normal levels, given its essential role in supporting occupancy rates, revenues and sustainable employment.
The association stressed the importance of continued cooperation between the relevant authorities and the private sector to develop and update the “Our Jordan Is Paradise” programme and build on its results, enhancing its economic and social impact on tourism establishments. These efforts should go hand in hand with intensified work to restore international tourism markets and strengthen Petra’s competitiveness on the global tourism map.
