Demand for food parcels has increased this year compared to last Ramadan, according to Eng. Jamal Amr, the representative of the food sector at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce.

Amr stated, as reported by Al-Rai daily, that the demand for food parcels intended for aid during the current Ramadan is higher than it was during the same month last year. He noted that the demand for food items has risen significantly over the past two days, coinciding with the disbursement of public sector salaries. Amr expects the demand to maintain this pace throughout the current week.
Global Food Price Trends (FAO Data)
On a global scale, data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) showed an increase in the global food commodity price index during February, driven by rises in the prices of sugar, dairy products, and vegetable oils.
The FAO Food Price Index averaged 127.1 points in February, a 1.6% increase from the previous month and 8.2% higher than its level in February 2024.
