PRESS RELEASE — Amman, Cairo Amman Bank is honored with the prestigious Gold Medal Award for its exceptional contributions to creating buildings that cater to the needs of individuals with disabilities.اضافة اعلان

The competition was organized by the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities under the patronage of His Highness Prince Mired bin Ra'ad, Chief Secretary and President of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The event was attended by Her Highness Princess Dina Mired, a Member of the Senate Asia Yaghi, Minister of Social Development, Wafa Bani Mustafa, Minister of Transport, Engineer Wassam Tahtamouni, alongside ambassadors from the United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain, Japan, and Australia, as well as the Deputy Director of the USAID and the Director of International Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union to Jordan.

Cairo Amman Bank achieved its well-deserved victory for the Cairo Amman Bank building, Wadi Saqra branch, which serves as an ideal model and embodies the concept of inclusive design for persons with disabilities. It incorporates standard criteria such as safe ramps, elevators, accessible restrooms, wide entrances, and exits, ground signs and markings, accessible websites, and information presented in accessible formats such as Braille, large and clear fonts, color and background control on websites, facilitative arrangements like Braille signs, sign language for communication with the audience with disabilities, and assistive technologies according to their needs.

In the first edition of the award for the year 2023, a total of 86 buildings from various institutions participated. These buildings were distributed as follows: 58 buildings from government institutions and departments, 19 from the private sector, and 9 from voluntary institutions.

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Dr. Mohannad Al-Azza, confirmed that the award is an annual event and part of the council's strategy to encourage different sectors to enhance best practices in providing favorable conditions for people with disabilities. He emphasized the importance of applying comprehensive design that ensures safe access to facilities and services.

At the end of the ceremony, His Highness presented commemorative shields to the winning institutions in the three categories of the award, as well as to the members of the judging committee. Representatives from the winning institutions were also present.
