According to the data, 235,492 containers arrived at the port during the first six months of this year, up from 193,214 containers during the same period last year.
Additionally, the number of outgoing cargo containers exported from Jordan through the Aqaba Container Terminal rose by 8% in the first half of 2025, reaching 52,214 containers compared to 48,303 containers during the same period in 2024.
In June 2025, incoming containers increased by 6.6%, reaching 40,629 containers, compared to 38,475 containers in June 2024. Outgoing containers also increased by 1.5% to 9,050 containers, compared to 8,909 in the same month last year.
Nabeel Al-Khatib, President of the Jordan Logistics Syndicate, noted that both import and export container traffic through the Aqaba port has shown notable improvement since the beginning of the year, signaling a positive outlook for port activity.
He attributed the increased activity to a rise in transit cargo, especially to Syria, and a recovery in the maritime transport sector thanks to stability in the Red Sea region, which has increased vessel traffic.
Al-Khatib also highlighted a significant growth in vehicle imports, both new and used, via specialized ships and containers. He noted the expansion of infrastructure investments in the transport and logistics sector in Aqaba.
He emphasized that the resurgence in activity at the Aqaba Container Terminal compared to previous years is expected to positively impact commercial movement and economic sectors, particularly the transport sector, which is a key driver of overall economic activity.
