The agreement was signed between the National Petroleum Company, the Jordan Logistics Company for Petroleum Facilities, the National Electric Power Company, Jordan Liquefied Gas Company, Samra Electric Power Generation Company, and the National Advanced Company for Natural Gas.
The purpose of the agreement is to regulate the process by which the Jordan Logistics Company for Petroleum Facilities purchases natural gas from the National Petroleum Company, along with its processing and transportation services to Samra Company’s sites through Jordan Liquefied Gas Company, to be utilized by the National Electric Power Company.
The agreement is expected to contribute to achieving the goals of the National Energy Strategy, particularly by increasing the share of local energy sources in the overall energy mix.
It also aims to enhance the marketing of gas produced by the National Petroleum Company, creating a source of revenue that will enable the company to implement its plans for drilling new wells and increasing production from the Risha Gas Field.
Natural gas, being less costly than conventional energy sources, will also play a role in reducing environmental impact and supporting sustainable energy practices in the Kingdom.
