Exports from the Amman Chamber of Industry grew by 2.9% during the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year, despite ongoing regional tensions.

This growth, which covered eight out of ten industrial sub-sectors, reflects the ability of Jordanian industry to overcome challenges and enhance its competitiveness in export markets, supported by its high-quality standards.
According to statistical data from the Amman Chamber of Industry, exports during the first quarter of 2026 reached JOD 1.741 billion, compared to JOD 1.691 billion during the same period last year.
Most industrial sectors recorded an increase in exports during the first quarter of the year, except for the engineering, electrical and IT industries sector, and the leather and garments sector, which declined by 35.8% and 4.2% respectively.
In contrast, the other eight industrial sub-sectors recorded varying levels of growth. The highest increase was in the pharmaceutical and medical supplies sector, which rose by 23.9%, while the lowest growth was in the plastics and rubber sector at 0.6%.
In terms of geographical distribution, Arab countries ranked first, accounting for exports worth JOD 869 million, followed by North America at JOD 228 million, and non-Arab Asian countries at approximately JOD 387 million.
Exports to European Union countries reached JOD 129 million during the first quarter, while exports to other European countries totaled JOD 79 million. Exports to African countries amounted to approximately JOD 13 million, to South America around JOD 12 million, and to other countries JOD 26 million.
By sector, exports were distributed as follows:
Mining industries: JOD 379 million
Chemicals and cosmetics: JOD 357 million
Food, agricultural, and livestock industries: approximately JOD 272 million
Exports from the engineering, electrical and IT industries sector reached JOD 197 million, followed by pharmaceuticals and medical supplies at JOD 181 million, and leather and garments at JOD 134 million.
The remaining exports were distributed among plastics and rubber industries at approximately JOD 77 million, packaging, paper, cardboard, and office supplies at JOD 74 million, construction industries at JOD 65 million, and wood and furniture industries at around JOD 5 million.
The Amman Chamber of Industry was established in 1962 and currently includes around 8,600 industrial establishments, employing approximately 159,000 workers, with a total capital of about JOD 5 billion.
