In an official statement, the Ministry reported that a ballistic missile launched from Iran was detected heading toward Turkish airspace after traversing Iraqi and Syrian airspace.

The statement added that the missile was neutralized in a timely manner by NATO air and missile defense assets deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean.

This marks the first time since the outbreak of hostilities last Saturday that Turkey has officially announced the interception of Iranian missiles after they entered its airspace.
