AMMAN—Al-Zakat Fund have paid JD4 million to release Al-Gharmat (poor women in debt) since its establishment, from the account allocated for this purpose, by which the number of beneficiaries reached 8000, according to Walaa Al-Rawashdeh, Head of the Public Relation and Media Department at the fund, Khaberni News reported.

Rawashdeh stressed that people can donate for Al-Gharmat, pointing out that soon the fund will make more payments given the money in the account.
She added that the Public Security Directorate / Judicial Execution provides the fund with a list with the names of Al-Gharmat who are imprisoned and charged with financial cases, contending that the fund conducts a comprehensive social study for each case in order to pay the largest possible amount of fines, releasing prisoners and returning them to their families.
The fund sets special basis and instructions to deal with cases that Al-Gharmat benefit from, with the priority given to imprisoned women who were charged for financial reasons without having a record of criminal cases, while a payment should not exceed JD1500, on condition of no repetition of the financial case, Rawashdeh said.
She also touched on the charitable projects implemented by the fund, to create a socially dependent and cohesive society, in addition to its role in the development of charitable work and serving the poor in accordance with Islamic Sharia.
