AMMAN — A woman was arrested on Monday for allegedly
begging in front of a hospital in Amman. However, after an investigation,
authorities reportedly discovered that the woman owns two cars.
Authorities said she was allegedly appealing to clinic
patients asking for money to cover the expenses of her treatment.
According to
a statement from the Ministry of Social Development, the woman was taken into
custody after the investigation showed that she owns two cars, including a 2011
Mercedes freight truck, and that she has a history of criminal “mischief”.
The Ministry of Social Development stressed the need for
citizens not to engage in or sympathize with beggars in any way.
