Jordanians consume 35,000 tonnes of dates annually, 30% in Ramadan

AMMAN — Jordanians consume 35,000 tonnes of dates every year, according to the head of the Jordan Dates Association, Anwar Haddad.اضافة اعلان

Haddad told Ammon News that the Kingdom's consumption of local and foreign dates during the holy month of Ramadan amounts to over 30 percent of this total.

Date exportsJordan exports around 12,000 tonnes of dates annually, primarily of the Medjool variety. Over 50 percent of the Kingdom’s Mejdool production is exported, as well as certain other varieties such as Barhi dates, he said.
Jordanian dates are shipped to more than 15 countries around the world, with key markets in the UAE, Qatar, Morocco, Britain, France, India, the Netherlands, and Turkey.
