Jordan condoles with Iraq over hospital fire victims

AMMAN — Jordan on Tuesday expressed its condolences to the Iraqi government and people for the dozens of lives lost in at Al-Hussein hospital in the city of Nasiriyah.اضافة اعلان

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Dhayfallah Al-Fayez affirmed Jordan’s support to Iraq, wishing the wounded swift recovery.

The fire claimed the lives of at least 52 people and wounded 22 others at the hospital’s COVID ward, according to a health official, AFP reported.  The fire was later brought under control by local civil defense forces.

A medical source with the health directorate told AFP the "main reason behind the fire... was the explosion of oxygen tanks."
