Prime Minister Jafar Hassan said today, Saturday, that the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land is the defining issue of this stage.
Hassan added in a speech delivered on behalf of His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan at the 34th Arab Summit held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, that “our foremost concern today is to stop the war and end the humanitarian disaster it is causing.”
He continued, “All efforts must be united to reach an immediate and lasting ceasefire and to deliver sufficient and urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza.”
He said, “The world has stood helpless in ending this war, which has violated all international laws and norms, and whose catastrophic repercussions constitute a blatant challenge to humanity.”
He pointed out that the repercussions of this unjust war and its tragic consequences will extend for many years.
He added, “The survivors in Gaza suffer from hunger, thirst, disease, and destruction that has affected schools, shelters, camps, hospitals, and the remaining homes.”
He continued, “More than a year and a half since the start of the brutal war on Gaza, the tragedy continues, claiming the lives of tens of thousands of innocent civilians.”
He added, “We must intensify our efforts to enhance the resilience of the Palestinian people and stop the violations against them, and work with our partners to end the humanitarian disaster and rally international support for a plan to rebuild Gaza.”
The Prime Minister affirmed, “We support the efforts made by the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, the sisterly State of Qatar, and the United States of America to achieve this.”
On the Syrian Issue
Hassan said: “We support brotherly Syria, its security, stability, sovereignty, prosperity, and the voluntary return of its displaced sons to contribute to building and reconstructing their homeland.”
He added, “Jordan will remain the supportive neighbor and ally to Syria and its brotherly people, and their right to live with dignity and security after years of destruction, war, and suffering.”
The Prime Minister confirmed that Jordan will continue to be a help and support to its Arab brothers.
He continued, “We affirm our standing with our brothers in Lebanon, supporting their efforts to maintain their country’s sovereignty, achieve stability, and activate state institutions.”
