The park’s opening is part of the municipality’s strategic plan to enhance the environmental landscape, increase green spaces, and provide sustainable ecological areas across various locations in and around Amman.

The rehabilitation works covered the park, which spans 350 dunums, including full fencing, the construction of an advanced rainwater drainage system adapted to the area’s topography, and the installation of stone chains at multiple locations to act as natural barriers preventing soil erosion.

The municipality also planted 17,500 trees of species suited to the local climate and topography and equipped the site with a modern irrigation network and an environmentally friendly solar-powered lighting system.

The inauguration was attended by the Governor of Russeifa, Dr. Ayman Al-Roumi; Chairman of the Russeifa Municipal Committee, Eng. Hussam Al-Najdawi; Deputy Chairman of the Amman Municipality Committee, Eng. Ziad Al-Rihani; and the City Manager, Eng. Ahmad Al-Malkawi.

In a related development, Dr. Al-Shwarbeh launched Phase Two of the Environmental Forest Project implemented by the municipality in the Baraka Al-Pepsi area (Farah Park). The municipality has started transforming 85 dunums into an environmental forest following the completion of construction works in the previous phase.

This phase includes spreading 300,000 cubic meters of red soil, planting 3,500 trees produced by the municipality’s nurseries, and implementing an irrigation network using the collection well established in Phase One to ensure sustainable watering of the vegetation.
