Food Security Council to start work before end of this year, says Hanifat

AMMAN — Minister of Agriculture Khalid Hanifat said that the Food Security Council will start work, through the Ministry of Agriculture, before the end of this year, Al-Rai daily reported.اضافة اعلان

He made his statement following a meeting with His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday, to follow up on the national plan for sustainable agriculture (2022–2025).

Hanifat said that the importance of the Food Security Council lies in “setting plans to confront crises in achieving food security, in coordination with the concerned authorities”.

The prime minister chairs the Food Security Council, which includes 10 ministers, in addition to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the deputy chairman of the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, and private sector representatives.

According to its regulation, which was approved in July, the council is entrusted with the task of developing plans and studies, and providing the requirements and technical and logistical support necessary to develop and accelerate the achievement of food security.
