Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Yousef Ahmed Al-Huneiti, met on Wednesday with U.S. Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Christopher J. Mahoney at the Pentagon, as part of his official visit to the United States.

Maj. Gen. Al-Huneiti received an official military welcome ceremony in accordance with established protocols before the two sides held a bilateral meeting, followed by an expanded meeting attended by senior officers and officials from the armed forces of both countries.
The discussions focused on aspects of military and defense cooperation between Jordan and the United States, as well as ways to further develop collaboration in areas including training, joint exercises, exchange of expertise, capacity building, enhancing readiness levels, and operational coordination.
These efforts aim to strengthen the ability of both countries’ armed forces to address various security challenges.
The talks also addressed current regional developments and their impact on regional security and stability, in addition to joint efforts to counter threats and enhance cooperation and coordination on issues of mutual interest.
Maj. Gen. Al-Huneiti highlighted the depth of the strategic partnership between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the United States, stressing the importance of continuing to develop military cooperation programs and exchange experiences in a way that enhances the efficiency and readiness of the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army.
For his part, Gen. Mahoney praised the level of cooperation and coordination between the armed forces of the two countries, as well as Jordan’s role in supporting security and stability in the region.
He affirmed the commitment to continuing joint efforts and developing defense partnership areas.
The visit is part of a series of meetings and activities held by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during his official visit to Washington, D.C., aimed at strengthening military and defense cooperation and expanding coordination and exchange of expertise between the armed forces of the two friendly nations.
