9% fewer drug-related cases in first five months of 2022

AMMAN — Director of the Narcotics Department Colonel Hassan Al-Qudah said on Sunday that the percentage of drug-related cases decreased by 9 percent since the beginning of this year till June, compared to the same period last year, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.اضافة اعلان

Qudah said that 8,489 drug cases have been dealt with since the beginning of this year, including 2,490 related to drug trafficking and dealing, and about 6,000 to drug abuse.

He added that the number of drug-related cases last year amounted to 19,122, including 4,858 cases of trafficking, and 142,649 cases of drug abuse.

Qudah said that the department focuses on drug trafficking, and performs raids on drug dealers, and this led to a decrease in drug-related cases.

Last year, to 29,000 people were arrested for drug-related cases, including dealers and addicts, he said.
