Fifty researchers from the University of Jordan have been included in the global ranking of the top 2 percent of most-cited scientists worldwide, according to the latest update based on data from the Scopus database and the international publisher Elsevier.اضافة اعلان

The list includes 31 researchers in the Long Career category, which reflects the cumulative scientific impact of a researcher across their career, and 45 researchers in the Single Year category, which measures citation impact during the ranking year. Some researchers appear in both categories, indicating sustained influence and consistently high-impact output.

The university's research presence spans a broad range of disciplines. Researchers featured on the list come from medicine, pharmacy, nursing, engineering, the natural sciences, information technology, business administration, dentistry, agriculture, and rehabilitation sciences, as well as from specialised research centres and units.

The ranking is one of several global tools used to assess researchers' scientific impact. It draws on a set of indicators including citation counts, the h-index, and the composite c-score, which measures scientific impact independently of publication volume while accounting for a researcher's different authorship roles, such as first or last author.

University of Jordan President Dr. Nathir Obeidat said he was proud of the achievement, describing it as the result of the university's sustained commitment to scientific research, its support for researchers, and its efforts to encourage distinguished scientific output and strengthen the institution's presence in global databases, indices, and rankings.

Obeidat extended congratulations to all researchers included on the list and expressed hope that they would continue their scientific contributions, which he said reinforce the university's standing at both the regional and international levels.

Dean of Scientific Research Dr. Ayman Wahba said that research occupies a central place at the university, and that the researchers' strong showing in the top-2-percent ranking reflects the level of excellence they have achieved. He added that the university provides sustained support for scientific research, encourages researchers to produce rigorous, high-impact work, and works to strengthen its position in global research databases and rankings.
