Spanish Football Legend Casillas Arrives in Jordan
Amman –Spanish football legend and former Real Madrid and national team goalkeeper Iker Casillas is arriving in Jordan this evening, invited by Iris Football Academy.
The European and World Cup champion will spend several days in the country, during which he will visit various tourist sites. Iris Academy aims to leverage the presence of such a prominent figure to promote Jordan as a tourist destination, especially given Casillas’ massive following on social media.
Casillas is scheduled to oversee the final selection round next Tuesday, where players from across Jordan will be chosen to represent the country in an international tournament in Spain. More than 8,000 participants had initially taken part in the trials for the age groups 2012, 2013, and 2014, with 24 players selected for the final round.
Iris Academy, led by its director Louay Shomaly, has a long-standing tradition of hosting global football stars over the years, benefiting Jordan both in terms of tourism and sports.
Mr. Louay Shomaly emphasized that Iris’s strategy since its establishment has focused on discovering young Jordanian talent from all provinces and showcasing their abilities under the guidance of professional coaches. He confirmed that this year’s edition continues a successful legacy from past years, highlighting the strong marketing value of promoting tourism in Jordan.
