AMMAN — National team coach Vital Borkelmans said the players intend to make a “heroic” effort to beat Australia and secure a place in the playoffs of the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 Asia Cup finals in China.اضافة اعلان

“Our objective before reaching Kuwait was to secure seven points, which we need to bag a qualification card. But now, after our draw with Kuwait, we only need a win to make it to the playoffs,” Borkelmans said in press remarks on Monday.

He added: “Our match with Australia is decisive in every sense. We will play to get our three points and fight to the last breath to win. The team is ready for this match and we have enough information about Australia’s performance to win and reach the playoffs.”

Borkelmans reassured that every one of the national team’s players are ready for the game, barring Ahmad Al-Dumieiri whose injury during the Kingdom’s faceoff against Kuwait has left him unable to play.

Responding to questions about his future with the national team, Borkelmans said: “Right now our focus is on facing Australia, so we will cross the bridge when we come to it. What matters now is that we beat Australia and make our way to the playoffs.”

For his part, Australia coach, Graham Arnold, said his team will also play to win.
“The team is at the top of their game, after performing well at the Asian qualifiers and winning the past seven games.”
