English club Manchester City has rejected an offer from Spanish side Barcelona for international midfielder Rodri, who was recently crowned World Cup champion with Spain, according to reports on Friday.

Reports indicated that City turned down Barcelona’s opening bid of £38.5 million ($52 million).
With one year remaining on the 30-year-old’s contract with City, his name has been strongly linked with a return to his homeland.
City is believed to be holding out for around £68 million to part ways with Rodri, who was named the best player at the recent World Cup held in North America.
Real Madrid was considered the most likely destination for the player, but its rival Barcelona now appears to be in a strong position to finalize the deal.
Rodri joined Manchester City in 2019 from Spain’s Atlético Madrid, winning multiple Premier League titles alongside the UEFA Champions League in 2023 under his former manager and compatriot Pep Guardiola.
He was also crowned champion of Europe with his national team at Euro 2024—the same year he won the Ballon d'Or as the world's best player—before a serious knee injury sidelined him for most of the 2024–2025 season.
