Hail to Jerusalem

When the so-called rednecks and evangelists attacked the US Congress building on January 6, both houses of the Congress were in session to accredit the US presidential election results. That incident shocked the American public and the news media as much as both the attacks on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and the twin World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 had done.اضافة اعلان

The recent Congress attacks were home-spun and carried out by true-blooded Americans. The shock resonated much louder than the Oklahoma City bombings of April 19, 1995, when 169 people died, compared to only one fatality in the Capitol attack.

The reason is the mundane sanctity of the Capitol building, housing Congress.
In contrast, the supposedly international, free and objective US media are utterly oblivious to the recent attacks by evangelistic Israelis on Al Aqsa Mosque, one of the three holiest places to two billion Muslims around the world.

Why is this hypocrisy by the likes of CNN, Washington Post, and the New York Times? And they have the gall to accuse others of violating human rights and freedom of expression.

East Jerusalem, occupied in 1967 by the invading Israeli armed forces, is an occupied territory, not a disputed territory. Many a resolution by the UN Security Council (UNSC) and General Assembly asserted this fact. The City was annexed by Israel in 1980 and the decision was universally condemned.

If the American media have been so appalled by the Evangelists occupying the Congress, why can’t they understand that Palestinian Jerusalemites are incensed and provoked beyond anger at the persistent attempts of the religious zealots and hostile Jewish settlers to attack Al Aqsa Mosque?

When occupied East Jerusalem was part of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, arrangements were made for Jewish worshippers to enter the City through the Mandelbaum Gate to perform prayers at the Wailing Wall (Al Buraq Wall to Muslims). Jordan and Israel were enemies, yet, worshippers were allowed entry under the auspices of the UN. They were also treated with dignity and respect by the Jordanian authorities.

Ann Frank, the Jewish teenager who suffered severe trauma and pain during her hiding from the Nazis in World War II Germany, had become an international celebrity when her diary was discovered in 1947.

Ahed Tamimi, the Palestinian teenager who slapped an Israeli soldier in 2017, had to be jailed, prosecuted and put in jail. She finally accepted a plea bargain alleviating charges against her of aggravated assault to an assault of a soldier. Some Americans, including Jewish comedian Sarah Silverman, actor Danny Glover, and NFL player Michel Bennett demanded her release, but national US media did not think it was worth their trouble.

East Jerusalem in its entirety is a Palestinian territory, including the so-called Temple Mount. All attempts by Israel to change the demography have failed. The endurance of the Palestinians in Jerusalem is of epic proportion. Their defiance to continuous Netanyahu-style bullying, eviction, home demolishing, jailing, high taxes, and denial of rights attests to the fact that they are living under the grip of an apartheid regime.
