Jordan, Egypt ink mineral resources deal

AMMAN — Jordan and Egypt signed Thursday a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of mineral resources, petrochemical industries, oil and natural gas, according to Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

The memorandum was signed by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Al-Kharabsheh and Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla.

The two officials agreed to form a joint committee to discuss and pinpoint means of cooperation in training and exchanging expertise as well as coordination on implementation measures.

In a press statement following the signing, Kharabsheh said that the memorandum of understanding comes within the framework of strengthening joint cooperation based on the existing friendly relations between the two countries.

Under the agreement, Jordan and Egypt will exchange expertise on the development of unconventional gas fields and gas extraction and processing, in addition to exchanging expertise on striking deals with international oil mining companies. It also stipulates exchanging expertise in enhancing citizens' access to energy to develop the infrastructure to use natural gas in Jordanian cities.

For his part, El-Molla stated that the memorandum comes within the framework of the ongoing cooperation with Jordan and the integration between the energy sectors in the two countries, indicating that the agreement outlines a road map that will be followed up on by a designated team.
