The Kremlin said Monday that it does not rule out resuming talks with Kyiv under US mediation to find a way out of the war in Ukraine, following a visit by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, “We also do not rule out resuming the trilateral format, but it is still too early to talk about specific locations and dates.”
The two US envoys, sent by President Donald Trump to Moscow and then Kyiv, presented new proposals that were “more viable” for ending the war with Russia, according to the Ukrainian presidency.
US envoy Steve Witkoff said talks he held with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his team in Kyiv on Sunday over ending the war with Russia were “substantive” and would continue.
Witkoff and Kushner arrived in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv by train from Poland on Sunday, arriving at a railway station in the city to meet Zelenskyy after holding talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
It was their first visit to Ukraine as part of diplomatic efforts to end the war.
Putin met with Witkoff and Kushner in Moscow on Saturday. Putin described the talks as “difficult.”
At the same time as the envoys’ visit, the Kremlin announced that Putin had ordered a halt to Russian strikes on Kyiv for three days, starting at midnight Saturday. Peskov said the move was linked to preparations for and the conduct of US-led negotiations in the Ukrainian capital.
