The UN agency explained in its report that between January 1 and August 31, a total of 72,260 new cases of cholera and acute watery diarrhea were reported, along with 201 deaths related to the disease.

According to the organization’s official website, August alone saw 10,848 new cases reported, including 34 deaths.

It confirmed that Yemen ranks third globally in terms of cholera spread, following Afghanistan (116,083 cases) and South Sudan (74,494 cases).

WHO noted that cholera claimed 879 lives in Yemen in 2024 out of more than 260,000 cases, representing 35% of global infections and 18% of global deaths from the disease, according to figures released at the end of January. — Agencies
