Beirut - Lebanon intends to request a one-month extension of the ceasefire during upcoming talks with the Israeli side in Washington this Thursday, an official source reported on Wednesday.اضافة اعلان

The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated: "Lebanon will request a one-month extension of the truce, and that Israel cease its bombing and destruction operations in the areas where it is present, while committing to the ceasefire." The current ceasefire, which took effect last Friday for a ten-day period, followed a meeting between the ambassadors of Lebanon and Israel in Washington—the first such meeting between the two countries in decades.

For his part, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun announced on Wednesday that "contacts are underway to extend the ceasefire period, and I will spare no effort to end the abnormal conditions that Lebanon is currently experiencing." This comes at a time when Israeli forces continue to carry out demolition operations of residential units in several towns in southern Lebanon.
