Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stated on Saturday that the Israeli escalation in southern Lebanon is extremely dangerous and undermines efforts to stabilize the south.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) following the martyrdom of seven people in Israeli airstrikes on a house in southern Lebanon, Salam emphasized that the martyrs "are not military infrastructure," stressing that the women and children killed were not military targets.
He underscored that the responsibility for addressing any military infrastructure on Lebanese territory, if present, rests exclusively with the Lebanese state through the Lebanese Army and its legitimate institutions. He added that the presence of such infrastructure does not grant Israel the right to violate Lebanese sovereignty or endanger civilians.
"Israel must stop this escalation. The security of our people and their right to live on their land are non-negotiable and not subject to compromise," Salam added.
Seven people were martyred and three others injured early Saturday dawn in Israeli airstrikes targeting a house in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA).
The agency reported that the Israeli occupation escalated its attacks on southern Lebanon starting at 3:00 AM on Friday-Saturday night, as its warplanes launched a series of airstrikes targeting the Ali Al-Taher heights on the outskirts of Nabatieh Al-Fawqa.
It added that the valley between the towns of Ansar and Zrarieh was hit by an airstrike, marking "the first to reach this geographical depth since the ceasefire two months ago."
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation army claimed in a statement that it "struck Hezbollah infrastructure" in the areas of Nabatieh and Ansar after detecting activity by the group against its forces in the Ali Al-Taher heights area, affirming that it "will continue operating to remove threats."
