AMMAN — Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said in a conference to the UN on Monday on the occasion of commemorating the Nakba that the UK and the US bear direct political and moral responsibility for the catastrophe of the Palestinian people. اضافة اعلان

They bear this responsibility, he added, seeing as they decided to advance colonial goals.

Refute to the Zionist narrative
The event, added Abbas, is the first refutation of the Zionist narrative that denies the Nakba.

Abbas also urged the UN to ensure Israel respect the organization’s decisions or suspend its membership.

The Balfour Declaration, a statement issued by the British government in 1917 to announce its support for the establishment of a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine, said Abbas was the promise given to those who did not have a right to that land.

First-time eventMarking 75 years of the Nakba, the UN commemorated the catastrophic expulsion of Palestinians from their homes by having Abbas represent Palestine for the first time in history, and in accordance with the mandate granted by the General Assembly.

The anniversary sheds light on the world’s longest growing refugee crisis and sets as a reminder that more than 5.9 million Palestinian refugees have been registered by the UNRWA and are still living in conflict, violence, and under illegal Israeli occupation.

The UN has taken a commitment to find a just and lasting solution to the plight of the Palestinian people with its members and observers who were invited to attend the events as well as the intergovernmental and civil society organizations, as well as in support of the public.
