Direct calls from the browser: Users can now make calls without installing the desktop app.
Group call support in development: A future update will allow group calls with up to 32 participants, plus features like call links and scheduling.
Screen sharing: Video calls will support screen sharing, useful for presentations or document reviews, while keeping data private.
Platform benefits: Linux users, who lacked an official desktop app, can now access full call features directly from the browser. Some Windows users not using the hybrid desktop app will also benefit.
Gradual rollout: Currently limited to beta testers on WhatsApp Web, with wider availability expected in the coming weeks.
This update makes WhatsApp Web a more versatile communication tool, bridging the gap between desktop and mobile experiences.
