WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature that allows users to link their Facebook profiles with their WhatsApp accounts. The update aims to simplify interaction and identity verification across the two platforms.

The feature, still in its experimental phase, enables users to enter a Facebook profile link in their WhatsApp settings. The link will appear in the profile’s contact information, accessible with a single tap. Users can control who sees the link, whether all contacts or a specific group. The linking is optional and will not be activated automatically.
Once linked, users can verify the link via the Meta Account Center, confirming that both WhatsApp and Facebook accounts belong to the same person. A small Facebook badge will appear next to the profile name if verified, while unverified links remain clickable without the badge.
The feature adds an extra layer of security, helping users distinguish real accounts from fake ones, aiding in the fight against impersonation and fraud. Previously, linking and verification was only available for WhatsApp Business accounts, but the update will now extend this to regular users.
For Android users, some have already seen the feature in beta versions, signaling a wider rollout soon. For iPhone users, an additional feature will be available: in-app message translation in 21 languages, including Arabic, English, and German, allowing offline translation after downloading the relevant language pack.
