The feature appears as a prominent yellow button labeled “Join the Conversation” across different sections of the app. By tapping it, users can join public discussions, watch related Spotlight videos, and see which of their friends are participating in the same topic. Snapchat gave examples such as Formula 1 and the reality show Below Deck as potential discussion subjects.
Gradual Rollout in Select Countries
The feature will first be released in Canada, New Zealand, and the United States over the coming weeks. It will appear in chat shortcuts, the Stories page, search results, and Spotlight clips.
Despite opening the door to public conversations, Snapchat emphasized that user privacy will remain protected. Profiles will stay private unless both parties are already friends, helping prevent unwanted messages or friend requests. The platform will also rely on its content moderation standards to ensure a safe and appropriate discussion environment.
