The social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has announced its decision to end the use of the old twitter.com domain, urging users to update their account security settings before November 10 to avoid temporary account lockouts.اضافة اعلان

This move is part of a broader restructuring initiative led by owner Elon Musk, which began following his acquisition of the platform in October 2022.

In an official statement, the company clarified that the decision was not due to any security breach or privacy threat, but rather a technical and administrative step necessary for the complete migration to x.com, the platform’s new identity since its rebranding in July 2023.

The update primarily affects users who rely on physical security keys such as YubiKeys or passkeys currently linked to the twitter.com domain.

How to Protect Your X Account from Temporary Lockout

The company advised affected users to re-register their security keys under the new x.com domain by following these steps:

Go to Settings, then select the Security section.

Navigate to Account Access, and open Two-Factor Authentication.

Re-register your passkey under the x.com domain.

Update your saved login credentials to ensure compatibility with the new domain.

Users who fail to complete these steps before November 10 may experience temporary account suspension until the update process is finalized.

The platform added that this change will not affect other forms of two-factor authentication, such as authenticator apps, and that most users will not notice any difference in their daily use. However, those who rely on hardware keys or passwordless passkeys could encounter unexpected login issues if they do not perform the update in time.

This step continues a series of major changes introduced by Musk since acquiring the platform — including modifications to content policies, visibility algorithms, user interaction mechanisms, and significant technical infrastructure updates.
