WhatsApp has announced a new update designed to make managing data on your phone easier. Users can now view the storage space occupied by each chat directly from the conversation window—without having to navigate through complicated storage settings.

The beta feature, spotted on Android devices last week, allows users to see and delete large files within each chat easily. Whether it’s a group chat filled with hundreds of photos and videos or marketplace conversations, you can now clean up storage quickly and efficiently.
According to WABetaInfo, the goal of this feature is to give users faster access to shared media, making it easier to sort and delete items per conversation, keeping chats organized in real time. The feature is currently available in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS and is expected to roll out gradually to all users after the testing phase concludes.
Previously, users could view each chat’s storage usage through Settings → Storage and Data → Manage Storage, but this process was less convenient. The new update makes the process direct and seamless.
Last month, Meta also introduced an in-app translation feature that removes the need to copy and paste messages into external apps—though accessing translation still requires a few extra steps.
In addition, WhatsApp continues to strengthen digital security, announcing in August that it had deleted more than 6.8 million accounts as part of a crackdown on criminal scam networks, most of which were based in Southeast Asia.
