The debate over shifting to a four-day work week is growing worldwide, including in Russia.
Psychologist Alina Filippova notes that experts believe working four days a week not only improves productivity, but also enhances employees’ quality of life.

She explained: “A four-day work week can help complete unfinished tasks, not only at work, but also in personal life. It allows employees to dedicate real time to their children, relationships, self-development, and household matters—things that are often postponed and become sources of internal stress and suppressed dissatisfaction.”
According to Filippova, the extra day off may reduce chronic stress and burnout, giving employees the chance to recharge, pursue hobbies, and spend more time with family and leisure.
However, she warned that the success of a “short week” depends on a systematic approach. If the workload remains the same but is compressed into four days, it could actually increase pressure. She emphasized that the key is not just giving employees an extra day off, but also rethinking work processes and organization.
