AMMAN — Representative Salem Al-Omari criticized the government for failing to include social security debts in the 2023 General Budget, stating that the public sector “should stop borrowing from social security, as this puts social security funds at risk”, Jo24 reported.اضافة اعلان

The state budget, Omari said, is similar to previous years. “Since 1980, the same numbers, deficits, and debts have been repeated,” he commented.

The MP cautioned the government against relying on borrowing, noting that accumulating debts raise the costs of installments and thus increase the budget deficit.

Comments made by the government about empathizing with citizens “are no more than pompous, worthless slogans”, he said.

If the government experiences such empathy, he questioned, where are the allocations it has set aside to eradicate poverty and unemployment and raise the salaries of employees and retirees?
