US crude oil futures fell by more than 2% in early Asian trading following US President Donald Trump’s announcement that he had suspended a scheduled strike on Iran to allow an opportunity for negotiations to end the war.

The most active July contract for US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped by $2.08, or 2.02%, to $102.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, the front-month contract declined by $1.54, or 1.42%, to $107.12, after having surged by more than 3.1% in the previous session.
