Surge in bounced checks – Q2 figures rise

AMMAN — During the second quarter of this year, the number of bounced checks due to financial and technical reasons increased to 51,800, compared to 50,600 checks in the first quarter as reported by the Jordanian Payment and Clearing Company (JoPACC).اضافة اعلان

According to JoPACC's report, which is based on statistics from the Electronic Check Clearing System of the Central Bank of Jordan, the value of the bounced checks in the second quarter reached JD319.1 million, as opposed to JD293 million in the first quarter of the same year, Addustour reported. 

The report also revealed that the total number of circulating checks during the second quarter stood at 1.59 million, showing a 2.5 percent increase from the preceding month's 1.55 million checks.

In terms of monetary value, the circulating checks during the second quarter amounted to JD9.77 million representing a 6.3 percent increase from the JD9.18 million recorded in the first quarter.
