Kareem Badawi, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, said Saturday that productivity testing results showed an output rate approaching 45 million cubic feet per day at the current stage, in partnership with the petroleum sector and Chiron Energy.

Immediate Expansion Plan

The minister revealed a plan to accelerate development, confirming that work is underway to connect two additional wells, with the aim of increasing West Burullus production to 75 million cubic feet per day at the beginning of 2026.

He noted that these efforts fall within the ministry’s strategy to gradually boost gas output and reduce the burden of import costs by speeding up development of discovered fields and advancing exploration programs, supported by new investment incentives.

Badawi also praised the commitment of the investment partner, Chiron Energy, and its growing cooperation in executing the project.

A Model of Integrated Operations

The ministry highlighted that the development and production of the West Burullus field represent a model of integrated work and optimal investment in the capabilities of Egypt’s petroleum sector companies in carrying out major projects.

The project involved several specialized companies, including Modern Drilling, Petroleum Marine Services (PMS), Petrojet, Enppi, and PICO Petroleum Services, all of which contributed to launching the field’s first production.

The produced gas is transported to existing processing facilities operated by Burullus Gas Company, maximizing the use of available infrastructure capacity and lowering costs.
