A government decision, approved in November 2025, to impose a 16% sales tax on the contents of incoming postal parcels from abroad with a customs value not exceeding JOD 200, came into effect on Sunday.

According to the government, the decision aims to encourage domestic spending and consumption over foreign alternatives, and to ensure equality and fairness among local traders, thereby contributing to the stimulation of local commercial activity and revitalizing the domestic market.
In November 2025, the Council of Ministers approved setting the customs duty at zero and applying a 16% sales tax rate on the contents of postal parcels whose customs value does not exceed JOD 200.
