Snow Flurries Fall on Some Southern Highlands
Several southern highland areas of the Kingdom witnessed snow flurries and hail on Wednesday morning, as the country was affected by a low-pressure system.

The Haysha area near Wadi Musa in southern Jordan experienced snowfall during the early morning hours. Snow flurries were also reported across the high elevations of Tafilah Governorate, particularly in the Rashadiyah highlands. The Shobak area likewise saw snow flurries on Wednesday morning.

In response to the prevailing weather conditions, the Director of Education for the Bseira District, Jazaa Al-Rifou’, in coordination with the District Governor of Bseira, Asaad Al-Lasasma, decided to suspend classes on Wednesday in all schools of the Bseira District in Tafilah, to ensure the safety of students and teaching staff.

Similarly, the Directorates of Education in Tafilah, Shobak, the Southern Badia, and Petra announced the postponement of school attendance on Wednesday due to the weather conditions.

The Jordan Meteorological Department stated that the weather will be foggy, cold, and partly to mostly cloudy across various regions of the Kingdom, with rain showers expected in the southern areas.

The department added to Al-Mamlaka that foggy, cold, and partly to occasionally cloudy conditions will persist across most parts of the Kingdom on Wednesday. It also forecast heavy rain showers at times during the morning hours in southern regions and the city of Aqaba, warning of possible flash floods and rising water levels in valleys and low-lying areas.

The department further predicted rain showers mixed with snow on the high southern mountain peaks on Wednesday morning, lasting for short and intermittent periods.
