The Arab League Council convened this extraordinary session today, Sunday, at the request of Jordan and several other Arab countries to discuss "blatant Iranian aggressions." The meeting was initiated by Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and Egypt to deliberate on Iranian attacks that violate international laws, treaties, and the principles of good-neighborliness.

Statements from the Secretary-General
The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, described the Iranian attacks against Arab states as "grave." He further stated:

The attacks are "completely condemned" and represent a "blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter."

These actions are an assault on the principles of good-neighborliness and create an "unprecedented state of hostility" between Iran and its Arab neighbors.

The current escalation is creating a "deep rift" that will have a lasting impact on future relations.

Aboul Gheit added that while no one downplays the "woes of war" that Iran is facing, there is no acceptable justification for targeting neighboring Arab countries to drag them into a conflict that is not theirs—especially since several Arab nations have worked tirelessly to prevent this "catastrophic war."
