The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate on Tuesday clarified the details of a video circulating online showing an elderly man assaulting a young girl.

The spokesperson said personnel from the Family Protection and Juvenile Department immediately launched an investigation after receiving the video, working to verify its source and identify the people shown in it.
They managed to identify the man and determine where the video was filmed in Amman. It was found that the video was old and had been recorded three years ago.
The man shown in the video was arrested and was found to be the girl’s paternal grandfather. The girl and her mother were also contacted, and it was confirmed that the girl is in good health and lives with her mother.
Investigations established that the video had been recorded three years ago against the backdrop of family disputes, and that the mother had not filed a complaint at the time.
The spokesperson said the Family Protection and Juvenile Department has begun taking the necessary legal and social measures to protect the girl and ensure that she is not subjected to harm in the future.
